Bosch to Showcase Numerous Innovations at Automechanika 2010

Frankfurt
Thursday, July 01, 2010

  • Support for maintenance of hybrid vehicles
  • New program for commercial vehicle diagnostics and repair
  • Live vehicle diagnostic work, including on a Tata Nano
This year's Automechanika, which is being held in Frankfurt am Main between September 14 and 19, will see Bosch take up residence in Hall 8 and the outdoor area in front of Hall 8. The company will be positioning itself as “The Partner for the Future of the Workshop.” As the only “singlesource supplier of diagnostic expertise and spare parts,” Bosch Automotive Aftermarket is more than able to live up to this claim. The company's stand at the event covers some 1800 square meters and will be put to good use presenting and demonstrating a total of 15 new and existing products as well as topics from the fields of diagnostics, spare parts and services.

Hybrid vehicle maintenance will be a key focus for Bosch at Automechanika 2010. The company produces all the main products associated with hybrid vehicle technology and is now also making it easier for automotive workshops to perform maintenance on hybrid vehicles by supplying diagnostic systems, making the latest technical data available via its Esitronic workshop software package and providing the appropriate practical training. Bosch will be debuting the new FSA 050 handheld tester at Automechanika. This tool was developed specifically for working on high-voltage systems and communicates wirelessly with the basic series 7 FSA vehicle system analysis devices.

Bosch will also be unveiling its new and efficient technical hotline — set up to help workshops that use the Bosch Esitronic workshop software package. In future, if the technical diagnostic process is proving difficult the Bosch hotline experts will be able to use a remote program to access Bosch testers directly and perform vehicle diagnostics via the Internet.

Furthermore, Bosch will be using Automechanika as an opportunity to introduce its new maintenance and repair program for commercial vehicles. The spotlight will be on the new Bosch KTS Truck and KTS Truck 800 testers for commercial vehicle diagnostics. The control unit diagnostic tool KTS Truck and the associated Esitronic Truck software package have been developed specifically to address the needs of commercial vehicle workshops and complete the comprehensive Bosch portfolio of spare parts and testing technology for vans, heavy-duty trucks, buses and trailers. Bosch produces two different versions of the new control unit diagnostic tester for commercial vehicles: A KTS module for use with a PC or laptop already present in the workshop, and the KTS 800 Truck complete solution with Diagnostic Control Unit (DCU) — a powerful tablet PC also recently developed by Bosch.

The new EPS 708 diesel test bench for testing common-rail injection pumps and injectors produced by Bosch and other manufacturers will also be demonstrated for the first time at the trade fair. A warranty rating is also possible for Bosch components. An integrated cooling system, electronic injection quantity measurement and a comprehensive self-diagnostic system help workshops to work with convenience and professionalism and are a simple way to get started with testing common-rail injectors using piezo technology.

Another innovation on show is Denoxtronic 2 Retrofit — a special retrofit solution for diesel-drive vehicles that is unique in the aftermarket. The system can reduce NOx production by up to 90%. All 15 new product and service topics shown in alphabetical order:
  • Air conditioning service device ACS 751
  • Batteries with EFB/AGM technology for vehicles with start/stop functionality
  • Battery chargers C3 and C7
  • Denoxtronic 2 retrofit system
  • Diagnostic testers KTS Truck and KTS 800 Truck
  • Diesel particulate measuring device BEA 080 (opacimeter II)
  • Diesel test bench EPS 708
  • Esitronic: Hybrid vehicles in Esitronic, Esitronic Truck, InCat data integration (ZF)
  • Halogen working lights and auxiliary lights, e.g. 175 pilot with xenon technology
  • Hybrid spare parts and diagnostics, hybrid drive concepts
  • Hybrid tester FSA 050 for FSA 500 measurement module
  • Remote diagnostics and DXP (Data Exchange Platform) for networked workshops
  • Repair concept for common-rail injectors (CRI/CRIN stage 3)
  • Repair of electronic components, including control units
  • Truck parts program, e.g. new Aerotwin wiper blade for commercial vehicles

First-hand experience of Bosch diagnostics, spare parts and service offerings
The focus for 2010 is on workshop customers. Bosch will be bringing its automotive expertise to bear in this sector so that customers can learn how to repair even the most state-of-the-art vehicles. Visitors to the trade fair will be able to find out first hand through a series of live demos on a range of vehicles how diagnostic equipment, spare parts and service offerings from Bosch can make the repair process easier. Among the items on the agenda is using a Bosch KTS tester to perform vehicle diagnostics on a Tata Nano compact city car, a vehicle that has scarcely been seen in Europe.

Elsewhere at the stand, visitors will have a chance to enjoy an interactive experience illustrating how the right hardware and software can make troubleshooting, servicing and repair efficient processes — all backed up by Bosch's cross-brand expertise. The extensive range of workshop equipment will also be demonstrated at the event, including tools for vehicle alignment and the full spectrum of wheel servicing.

Live demos of Bosch workshop concepts
Bosch workshop concepts such as Bosch Car Service and Auto Crew will also be presented at Automechanika. A full-scale Bosch Car Service workshop setup in the outdoor area in front of Hall 8 will demonstrate the minimum requirements that Bosch sets for future partner centers. This area will also be used to present the AutoCrew and AutoCrew Truck & Trailer workshop concepts and all that they entail. These concepts for passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle workshops are being presented as Bosch workshop brands for the first time at this year's Automechanika.

Several Bosch brands at neighboring stands in Hall 8
For the first time, the Bosch aftermarket and workshop brands will be represented side by side, this year in Hall 8. Beissbarth has an extensive range of products relating to axles and will also be presenting new products, including a brake test bench/control unit diagnostics hybrid. Sicam will be showcasing the complete tire service program and presenting new wheel balancing machines and tire mounting equipment. HC Cargo will be displaying its comprehensive range of automotive electronics spare parts.
