Dario Franchitti Takes the '09 IndyCar Series Title as Bosch Dominates by Scoring a 13th Championship

Homestead, FL, Saturday, October 10, 2009 -
Dario Franchitti won the Indy Racing League season finale Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway and delivered the 13th IndyCar Series championship for Bosch spark plugs. Franchitti, who returned to IndyCar racing this season from NASCAR, utilized strong fuel management on Saturday to win one of the closest points battle in the history of the series. Driving a Bosch-sparked Target Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara Honda V-8, Franchitti won his second IndyCar title in three years on the strength of five victories this season. Dario was second five points behind his Ganassi teammate and defending series champion Scott Dixon going into the season finale with Team Penske's Ryan Briscoe third just eight points out of first. In the end, Franchitti took the title with 616 points while Dixon had 605 and Briscoe was one point back at 604. Bosch plugs completely dominated the IRL circuit by again outfitting the entire field of IndyCar entries powered by Honda engines.
Scott Dixon Takes INDYCAR Series Race in Japan on Bosch

Montegi, Japan, Saturday, September 19, 2009 -
New Zealand's Scott Dixon dominated the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series race Saturday night at the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit in Japan, driving a Bosch spark plug-equipped Dallara Honda V8. Starting from the pole, Dixon led most of the race and finished 1.14475 seconds ahead of the field averaging 202.013 mph for the win on the high-speed track. The victory moved Dixon back into the series points lead with the season finale looming on October 11 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in South Florida. Bosch will register another IndyCar Series title this year as all of the Honda V8-powered entries are running on Bosch spark plugs.
Penske Racing's Ryan Briscoe Takes Narrow Win at Chicagoland

Joliet, IL, Saturday, August 29, 2009 -
Indy Racing League IndyCar Series points leader Ryan Briscoe won a close, hard-fought victory Saturday night at Chicagoland Speedway driving a Bosch spark plug-equipped Penske Racing Dallara Honda V8. The pole sitter Briscoe went wheel to wheel with defending series champion Scott Dixon over the last lap to win by just 0.0077 of a second and log his third victory of the '09 season. It was the fourth closest finish in IndyCar Series history. With two races on the '09 schedule, Briscoe now has a 25-point lead over Dario Franchitti, who finished fourth at Chicagoland.

Dario Franchitti was nearly perfect Sunday at Infineon Raceway when he scored a tri-fecta by starting from the pole position, leading all 75 laps and winning the IndyCar Series Sonoma Grand Prix driving a Bosch spark plug-equipped Dallara Honda V8. It was the fourth victory of the season for Franchitti, who drives for Target Chip Ganassi Racing. Team Penske driver Ryan Briscoe finished second Sunday and took over the series points lead through 14 events on the 17-race schedule this season. Bosch continues to dominate this popular series by outfitting all of the Honda-powered entries again in 2009.
Victory at Mid-Ohio on Bosch Moves Scott Dixon into Top Spot in IndyCar Career Wins

New Zealander Scott Dixon became the IndyCar Series' all-time leading race winner Sunday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course when his drove his Bosch spark plug-equipped Target Chip Ganassi Racing entry to victory in the Honda Indy 200 race. Driving his Bosch-sparked Dallara Honda V8 IndyCar, Dixon won for the fourth time this season and logged his record 20th victory now in his seventh season of Indy Racing League competition. The record-setting win was a breeze for Dixon. He took the lead from Justin Wilson' Z-Line Design entry halfway through the race and then drove away from Team Penske pole-sitter Ryan Briscoe to win by over 30 seconds. The win moved Dixon back into the IndyCar Series points lead through 13 of the 17 races schedule for the '09 season.

A narrow, hard-fought victory by less than one second brought Ryan Briscoe his second win of the season and vaulted him into the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series points lead driving a Bosch spark plug-equipped Team Penske Dallara Honda V8 Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway. The Australian Briscoe out-ran Ed Carpenter from Vision Racing over the last 10 laps to claim the victory. Tony Kanaan finished third on the 1.5-mile oval track in the 200-lap event driving his Bosch-sparked Andretti Green Racing Dallara Honda.
Will Power Has Will to Win The IndyCar Race in Edmonton

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Sunday, July 26, 2009 -
Polesitter Will Power led nearly the entire 95-lap Indy Racing League IndyCar Series race Sunday at the City Center Airport Circuit on his way to winning the Rexall Edmonton Indy event. It was the first victory of the season for Power, who was driving a Bosch spark plug-equipped Dallara Honda V8 for Team Penske. Helio Castroneves, a Penske teammate and '09 Indy 500 winner on Bosch, finished second at Edmonton. Defending series champion Scott Dixon rounded out the podium standing tall with a third-place finish driving for Target Chip Ganassi Racing, also sparked by Bosch plugs.

Dario Franchitti was the fastest driver in qualifying and followed that up with a strong finish to win his third Indy Racing League IndyCar Series race of the season Sunday afternoon in Exhibition Park here in Toronto, Canada. Driving a Bosch spark plug-equipped Dallara Honda V8 for Target Chip Ganassi Racing, Franchitti won the first race in the IndyCar Series run on this 1.75-mile street circuit Sunday in Toronto, after winning a Champ Car series event here 10 years ago. His win moved Franchitti back into first place in the IndyCar Series standings just two points ahead of his Ganassi teammate and defending series champion Scott Dixon, who finished fourth in Toronto. Team Penske teammates Ryan Briscoe and Will Power wound up second and third, respectively on Sunday driving Bosch-equipped Honda V8 entries.
IndyCar Owner Dayle Coyne Gets his First Victory in 25 Years as Justin Wilson Wins at the Glen on Bosch

After 25 years of trying, Indy Racing League IndyCar Series team owner Dale Coyne finally enjoyed the fruits of his first series victory Sunday at the Watkins Glen International circuit in upstate New York when Justin Wilson won the IndyCar Camping World Grand Prix. Wilson's win was the first for Coyne after 558 entries as a combined IndyCar Series driver and owner. Driving Coyne's Dallara Honda V8 running on Bosch spark plugs, the Briton Wilson scored his second career IndyCar Series win driving a Bosch-equipped entry. Watkins Glen polesitter Ryan Briscoe finished second while defending series champion and current points leader Scott Dixon of New Zealand was third for the Target Chip Ganassi Racing Honda also on Bosch.
19th Career IndyCar Win for Scott Dixon

Richmond, VA, Saturday, June 27, 2009 -
Strong pit stop work by his Target Ganassi Racing crew allowed defending IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon to win the SunTrust IndyCar Challenge Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway. Dixon took the lead at the midpoint when he beat his Target Ganassi teammate and race-leader Dario Franchitti out of the pits. It was the 19th career victory for the New Zealander Dixon, tying him with Sam Hornish, Jr. for the most series wins. Graham Rahal drove his Newman-Haas-Lanigan Dallara Honda to third place and a podium sweep for Bosch plugs. Bosch is again this year equipping all Dallara Honda V8 entries with Bosch racing spark plugs.
