In 2011, The Bosch Group is celebrating its 125th anniversary, as well as the 150th anniversary of its founder’s birth. On Nov. 15, 1886, Robert Bosch established his “Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering” in Stuttgart, Germany, laying the foundation for what has become a leading global supplier of technology and services.

A pioneer in globalization, Bosch does business through more than 300 subsidiaries and regional companies in more than 60 countries with a workforce of some 285,000 associates. Bosch entered the U.S. market in 1906, and today the company employs more than 22,000 associates in more than 100 locations throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

“Bosch’s 125 years of success have been driven by innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life, the dedication of our associates and the partnerships with our customers,” said Peter Marks, chairman, president and CEO, Robert Bosch LLC and member of the Bosch board of management. “100 years ago, the company generated more sales in the U.S. than in Europe. Today, we continue to build upon the legacy of globalization inspired by the entrepreneurial vision of our founder.”

In the summer of 2011, Bosch associates will celebrate the milestone with several Experience Days. More than 20 regional events will take place throughout North America, including celebrations hosted in California, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and S. Carolina, United States; Chihuahua, México (State) and Distrito Federal, México; and Ontario, Canada; among other locations. These events combined will host more than half the cumulative total of North American Bosch associates.

At these events, associates’ contribution to the company’s success will be recognized among families and communities. Also, the values of education and continued learning upon which the company was founded will be reinforced. At each event, the SAE “A World In Motion®” (AWIM) program has helped to design family-focused activities such as glider and skimmer challenges, which will allow kids to build and race handcrafted boats and planes.
