Bosch 'ICON Wiper Blade Challenge' Competes in all Grand Am Races

Broadview, IL (Wednesday, March 25, 2009)
Bosch’s advanced bracketless ICON wiper blades are taking on the rain in the Rolex and KONI Challenge series of Grand American Road Racing throughout North America. Bosch ICON wiper blades, with an integrated aerodynamic wind spoiler, are specially suited for high speed driving in wet conditions. This spoiler improves airflow over the blade to create increased down force, applying uniform pressure on the entire blade for superior visibility.

“The Bosch ICON Challenge is a great program that underscores the Bosch involvement and support for Grand Am road racing, while demonstrating the superiority of ICON wiper blades even in tough road racing in the rain. Bosch engine management systems, fuel injection, spark plugs, oxygen sensors, braking systems, and other components are in widespread use in Grand Am racing and the ICON Challenge shows how really good the ICON blade really is. And these blades are the same stock ICON wiper blades that a motorist can install on his personal vehicle,” said Wolfgang Hustedt, North American Motorsports Manager for Bosch. .

Bosch ICON patented Bracketless Technology ensures clear visibility across a wide range of driving conditions and all-season extremes. Motorists get quiet and clean wiping with no streaks or missed spots in rain, sleet or snow. Driving at highway speeds or race speeds Bosch ICON provides the same uncompromising performance thanks to its unique wind spoiler, which channels the air to provide additional down force. ICON maintains this high performance longer than other blades thanks to its exclusive dual-fx rubber technology, which virtually eliminates chatter and provides extended life.

Grand American Road Racing Association sports car racing consists of two series, the Rolex Sports Car Series and the KONI Challenge Series. Rolex racing includes two classes of cars, GT (Grand Touring), which are specially built cars with a ‘street’ car body, and DP (Daytona Prototype) cars, which are all-out race cars that look like it. The KONI Challenge series includes two classes, big-bore GS (Grand Sport) and smaller ST (Street Tuner) vehicles.
